Matcha Green Iced Tea Recipe with Ginger and Lemon

I like to control my own ingredients and sugar content with this easy and adaptable recipe.

Takes less than 5 min to assemble, other than cooling time.

Very similar in taste to your favourite mainstream brands.

Matcha Green Iced Tea with Ginger and Lemon

2 quarts (8 cups) water

3 teaspoons matcha green tea (or 3 green tea bags)

1 scant cup cane sugar

1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons lemon juice

4 slices ginger

Add green tea to 8 cup Pyrex measuring cup. Fill with boiling water up to 8 cup mark. Add sugar and lemons, ginger, and stir. Let cool, then chill and enjoy.

Can also use pot and boil water on stove, remove from heat and add ingredients.

Add more or less sugar, lemon, ginger, tea etc to your liking. Swap out the sugar for half the amount in honey. Mix and match sugar/honey. Or substitute with the ratio of other natural sweetener – each varies so read the direction of how much to swap out for and whether it can be used in a hot liquid.

Can make it decaf by using double the amount of decaffeinated black tea bags as decaf tea is usually half as strong flavour wise as regular tea.
