This is an easy classic balsamic dressing recipe. Its simpler to make dressing than we think! If you’re looking to have your say about what’s in your dressing, or for cost savings, this is a great standard dressing that can be tweaked to your palate or food sensitivities. Hubby rightfully didn’t want to pay exorbitant […]
This is a homey soup. The stuffed pork loin taste but in a soup. That herby fragrant stuffing vibe with slow roasted pork. Hearty potatoes, onions, carrots, celery and herbs help keep the comfort coming. Cooked chicken, even rotisserie chicken can be subbed for the pork. We used pre cooked pulled pork without added bbq […]

This fudge is smooth and creamy – the salty of the pistachios beautifully offsets the sweetness of the white chocolate. My Gluten Free hubby is able to eat these
My spouse went to check on a rustic metal bench we were having made by local Mennonites, when he arrived, they were on coffee break. They invited him to sit in with them while they took a moment. This was profound to both of us. When they were done, it was at that point, he […]
This is the pan version of Roasted Cauliflower that is every bit as scrumptious as the oven variety, however it’s less pots, less time (30 min less) and even (or especially) less volume, if needed. Cut cauliflower florette off the stock – just the amount needed for dinner, if large in diameter cut in half […]

Hallelujah! Finally 1 dish for the WHOLE family… Yep, you heard right, gluten free lasagna… NO BOIL noodles, just lay ’em and bake ’em. It gets better… They taste like regular noodles (can’t tell, really, yes, no I’m telling the truth!) Even my 85 year old father likes them, and he’s old school “discerning of […]
These are great hash brown casserole recipes for the “what to make for dinner?” Question …

Delicious is a common adjective we hear from this gluten free carrot cake recipe.
It’s true, although fluffy and GF usually never go together, they do today, with this fluffy gluten free pancakes recipe! The hubby wanted pancakes last Sunday (crepes actually) and all the mixes I had been trying we all used up or thrown out – you GF’ers know what I mean. None were out of the […]
Yes you heard right and they are every bit as good, without the added deep fried fat. Or, like us who have family members that need to know every ingredient, we can’t always count on the good folks at the restaurant to be forthcoming (or accurate) with what is in the food. If we make […]
10min gluten free dinner, can this really be true? These wheat free, dairy free, soy free and nut free, gluten free pizza crusts were actually quite do-able and remarkably better than 99% of the pizza shop ones. Yes, one can taste the difference, however when loaded with your favourite toppings it’s great to have something […]
A solid choice, Compliments Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix found at Sobeys and other stores that serve Compliments brand, we liked this *almost* as much as PC’s version of, essentially, the same. PC gets a couple extra points for fluffiness. Non-GF’ers will not realize this is gluten free. Very versatile as brownies, two bite brownies […]
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this gluten free vanilla cake mix… the bag says fast, easy, delicious… it was most of those, but okay – instead of delicious – in our trial, it was heavy. Like heavier than pound cake heavy. We’ve used it as a bottom for icecream cake as well, which worked […]
I love this natural liquid hand soap, great scent, not too bright, not too soft, it cleans and lathers well. 2L refill is awesome, ask any of your stores that sell Bio-Vert to add this product. If they won’t add it on the shelf, they will often order it in just for you (even chain […]
Hmmm, I really wanted to like these, as I’m a definite old fashioned doughnut fan… so sad.. and a huge fan of owner operator businesses. Ugh. I have worked in a bakery in a previous era of my life and have made more than a thing or two in my day. Box says “we really […]
PC Gluten Free Fusilli Pasta was pretty good. Cool spirally noodles. Don’t overcook and don’t stir. Use package directions! Cook the noodles, drain in colander, pour back in pan, add already cooked, already hot sauce with all meat/veg in it (if spaghetti or the like) on top. FOLD sauce into noodles with large spatula (like […]
It was really good! Lets just jump out of the gate on this one. Not just good for Gluten Free, but good, like everyone likes them good. Its a relief to be able to make one dessert instead of multiple and having to keep them separate and labelled and all the other shenanigans that come […]
Yes you read right a 1 pot fun hearty soup dinner that’s ready in 15 minutes! Thanks again to my friend Julie for this one which she modified from her twin sister’s recipe. We had this at Julie & Ray’s house (Stephan, Ray was my friend first! LOL) one weekend where the hubbers & I […]

Our version made with gluten free flour similar to Starbuck’s chewy original non-gluten free big chewy moist Ginger Cookies with a bit of a zing. This recipe is modified from an heirloom recipe in my friend Julie’s family for generations, in the great province of New Brunswick Ontario, Canada … close to our Newfie friends […]
My mom makes this recipe for when she feels like something different than the usual fare. It’s also for those days you don’t want to put the oven on, or need dinner-in-a-hurry. It’s a versatile recipe too, for crab cakes, just substitute faux crab which can be just as delicious nowadays as real crab, and […]
No sacrificing on the height of yorkshires with this recipe using spelt. This Yorkshire Pudding Recipe for roast beef is the one we use for our family, and is also great with roast chicken or turkey…. use mini pans to make appetizers stuffed with pot-roast or mini bbq chicken pot pies. Of course I’m usually […]
This is a Canadian fusion variation on the traditional saffron jewel rice of the middle east, it dials back the warm spices like cardamom and allspice and adds in vegetables such as grated zucchini or yellow squash. Might add the element of surprise to the “typical potluck/picnic” as it goes well on it’s own for […]
Original recipe from my mom’s (who’s now 80! at the time of this post) calls to melt chocolate and shortening but… 3T cocoa + 1 T oil = 1 square of melted chocolate (use the good cocoa – cocoa camino – full flavour – Loblaws and maybe Zehrs or well.ca) And grapeseed oil works well […]
Working late this week, we needed a chewy pick-me-up… and since dad likes oatmeal cookies as well, and was on the mend, there’s two great reasons to create a new cookie! Plus a ‘nod to our Florida friends, one of whom, this is her favourite cookie, from what I understand, the realization set in after […]
I made these on Friday, and was going to take some to a function – after the hubby ate four of them, he confiscated them such that they would not leave the building! Normally I would put up a fuss, but it’s too hard to deprive a grown man of his new favourite cookies especially […]

We tried these noodles because of the gluten free properties of quinoa and rice, even picky eaters wouldn’t be able to tell by taste, texture was nice. Would buy again!
We cook the quinoa in the rice cooker – just like you would rice
Great as a side dish, or add in more protein (chick peas or meat) to make it a whole meal-in-a-bowl
Good hot, warm or cold – excellent for summer bbq picnics, potlucks, etc.
In 2hrs 46min we get beautiful loaves that rise above the top of the pan!
Salad
As a family favourite, we know when we say salad, this is what we mean. The ingredients speak for themselves. A bit sweet, a bit salty. This is hubby’s fav salad. Everyone else so far has really enjoyed it as well. Even the nieces and nephews.
Super easy to make, no fussing, just throw a few ingredients in a pot, stir and then mix. Kids and hubbies like to help make this one.

Review: Swiss Chalet West Coast Salad Was freakin awesome! At least mine was… Fresh mixed lettuce greens (I think I saw beet tops in there too), red onion strips, and mandarin orange slice tossed in Renee’s Balsamic Vinaigrette. Topped with a medley of dried fruits, mixed nuts, Feta cheese and a sliced breast of our […]
Corn Pasta is an excellent direct pasta substitute that can be used for any recipe that calls for spaghetti, elbow noodles, penne, spiral etc – and the least detectable taste change. We like San Zenone (Prairie Harvest) and Arrowhead mills. This is our favourite by far. Kamut is good as well, it’ll go mushy if […]
I’ve always found roasted vegetables to have the most flavour. Here is an easy roasted cauliflower recipe, that brings the wow factor to the table.
This is a super easy nachos recipe, with restaurant quality melted cheese stacked high, ground beef, fresh tomatoes and green onion… mmm… this is how we do it…
This super easy make ahead mini cheesecake recipe takes all the “fuddling” out of the crust – as it’s sprinkled on top, since we’re making them upside down! A silicone mini muffin pan is needed. Can be done in a regular mini muffin tin, but they’re trickier to pop out. Easy Mini Cheesecake Recipe – […]
Old Fashioned Rice Pudding Recipe updated, made Dairy Free, Egg Free, Gluten Free without sacrificing taste.
– blue man group Swedish Chef Muppets style – this is brilliant, never gets old…
This is one of my spouse’s favourite – he’s a “selective” eater by nature, and adding WF, GF, DF, to the mix while tasting like “normal” food has been quite the adventure. Thank GOD for corn noodles… even the most discriminating like them…
We’ve all heard of apple crisp, but pear pie being my favourite of the pear recipes, pear crisp is just as good…
Pear Crisp Recipe…
We were pleasantly surprised at Van’s gluten free waffles, and once we read the label, we’ve found they’re egg free too (which means our niece can have them)!
Don't we all? It's ok you're doing better than you think! Helpful Proverbs
