Tastes like pizza without the carbs.
almond milk, Gluten Free, instant pot, rice pudding, soy free, vegan – the way hubby aka Uncle Stephan likes
This is the pan version of Roasted Cauliflower that is every bit as scrumptious as the oven variety, however it’s less pots, less time (30 min less) and even (or especially) less volume, if needed.
Part of – What to do with 70 zucchinis saga Feel free to double triple quadruple for any event – great side for a BBQ, Family Reunion or Potluck for lots of people! Also a great alternate to pasta salad for the gluten free or low carbers, etc. Zucchini Greek Salad Recipe 3 cups cubed […]
Hallelujah! Finally 1 dish for the WHOLE family… Yep, you heard right, gluten free lasagna… NO BOIL noodles, just lay ’em and bake ’em. It gets better… They taste like regular noodles!
These are great hash brown casserole recipes for the “what to make for dinner?” Question …
Don’t call take-out, save your money… as long as you have a few ingredients on hand – this will be perfect (and it’s delicious to boot!) Known as a dinner dish, it’s also great for breakfast, brunch or lunch too. Hash Brown Potato Casserole Recipe…
Delicious is a common adjective we hear from this gluten free carrot cake recipe.
It’s true, although fluffy and GF usually never go together, they do today, with this fluffy gluten free pancakes recipe! The hubby wanted pancakes last Sunday (crepes actually) and all the mixes I had been trying we all used up or thrown out – you GF’ers know what I mean. None were out of the […]
Yes you heard right and they are every bit as good, without the added deep fried fat. Or, like us who have family members that need to know every ingredient, we can’t always count on the good folks at the restaurant to be forthcoming (or accurate) with what is in the food. If we make […]
10min gluten free dinner, can this really be true? These wheat free, dairy free, soy free and nut free, gluten free pizza crusts were actually quite do-able and remarkably better than 99% of the pizza shop ones. Yes, one can taste the difference, however when loaded with your favourite toppings it’s great to have something […]
A solid choice, Compliments Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix found at Sobeys and other stores that serve Compliments brand, we liked this *almost* as much as PC’s version of, essentially, the same. PC gets a couple extra points for fluffiness. Non-GF’ers will not realize this is gluten free. Very versatile as brownies, two bite brownies […]
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this gluten free vanilla cake mix… the bag says fast, easy, delicious… it was most of those, but okay – instead of delicious – in our trial, it was heavy. Like heavier than pound cake heavy. We’ve used it as a bottom for icecream cake as well, which worked […]
Hmmm, I really wanted to like these, as I’m a definite old fashioned doughnut fan… so sad.. and a huge fan of owner operator businesses. Ugh. I have worked in a bakery in a previous era of my life and have made more than a thing or two in my day. Box says “we really […]
PC Gluten Free Fusilli Pasta was pretty good. Cool spirally noodles. Don’t overcook and don’t stir. Use package directions! Cook the noodles, drain in colander, pour back in pan, add already cooked, already hot sauce with all meat/veg in it (if spaghetti or the like) on top. FOLD sauce into noodles with large spatula (like […]
It was really good! Lets just jump out of the gate on this one. Not just good for Gluten Free, but good, like everyone likes them good. Its a relief to be able to make one dessert instead of multiple and having to keep them separate and labelled and all the other shenanigans that come […]
Yes you read right a 1 pot fun hearty soup dinner that’s ready in 15 minutes! Thanks again to my friend Julie for this one which she modified from her twin sister’s recipe. We had this at Julie & Ray’s house (Stephan, Ray was my friend first! LOL) one weekend where the hubbers & I […]
Our version made with gluten free flour similar to Starbuck’s chewy original non-gluten free big chewy moist Ginger Cookies with a bit of a zing. This recipe is modified from an heirloom recipe in my friend Julie’s family for generations, in the great province of New Brunswick Ontario, Canada … close to our Newfie friends […]
This is a Canadian fusion variation on the traditional saffron jewel rice of the middle east, it dials back the warm spices like cardamom and allspice and adds in vegetables such as grated zucchini or yellow squash. Might add the element of surprise to the “typical potluck/picnic” as it goes well on it’s own for […]
Review: Review: VH Orange Ginger Sauce (stir fry sauce) 5 Minute Dinner – two pots, incredible results – Hubby gave it a 10/10 if that says anything – Faster than takeout It’s one of those days of doing errands a quick grocery shop, and getting home when dinner was supposed to have been at the […]
We tried these noodles because of the gluten free properties of quinoa and rice, even picky eaters wouldn’t be able to tell by taste, texture was nice. Would buy again!
We cook the quinoa in the rice cooker – just like you would rice
Great as a side dish, or add in more protein (chick peas or meat) to make it a whole meal-in-a-bowl
Good hot, warm or cold – excellent for summer bbq picnics, potlucks, etc.
Salad
As a family favourite, we know when we say salad, this is what we mean. The ingredients speak for themselves. A bit sweet, a bit salty. This is hubby’s fav salad. Everyone else so far has really enjoyed it as well. Even the nieces and nephews.
Super easy to make, no fussing, just throw a few ingredients in a pot, stir and then mix. Kids and hubbies like to help make this one.
Corn Pasta is an excellent direct pasta substitute that can be used for any recipe that calls for spaghetti, elbow noodles, penne, spiral etc – and the least detectable taste change. We like San Zenone (Prairie Harvest) and Arrowhead mills. This is our favourite by far. Kamut is good as well, it’ll go mushy if […]
I’ve always found roasted vegetables to have the most flavour. Here is an easy roasted cauliflower recipe, that brings the wow factor to the table.
This is a super easy nachos recipe, with restaurant quality melted cheese stacked high, ground beef, fresh tomatoes and green onion… mmm… this is how we do it…
This super easy make ahead mini cheesecake recipe takes all the “fuddling” out of the crust – as it’s sprinkled on top, since we’re making them upside down! A silicone mini muffin pan is needed. Can be done in a regular mini muffin tin, but they’re trickier to pop out. Easy Mini Cheesecake Recipe – […]
Old Fashioned Rice Pudding Recipe updated, made Dairy Free, Egg Free, Gluten Free without sacrificing taste.
This is one of my spouse’s favourite – he’s a “selective” eater by nature, and adding WF, GF, DF, to the mix has been quite the adventure. Thank GOD for delicious corn noodles.
We’ve all heard of apple crisp, but pear pie being my favourite of the pear recipes, pear crisp is just as good…
Pear Crisp Recipe…
We were pleasantly surprised at Van’s gluten free waffles, and once we read the label, we’ve found they’re egg free too (which means our niece can have them)!
Betcha didn’t know… interesting bit of trivia: Who invented the Sloppy Joe? Benjamin Franklin. Originally called the Sloppy Ben, however, over the years it became known as the Sloppy Joe, the blue collar sandwich. Super Easy Sweet Chili recipe is based off the Sloppy Joe Recipe… only 6 ingredients…
I forgot how good and light this easy curried rice recipe was. This is great to use leftover chicken or beef in (even canned white chicken in a pinch -drained)- be sure to marinate the meat in the dressing until needed … great hot or cold (perfect for buffets or picnics – we prefer hot)
I was pleasantly surprised by these Presidents Choice PC Small Sweet Peas. Needing a quick side to an evening meal I tossed these into the grocery cart (along with the PC small sweet peas and a bag or two of Asian vegetables), threw them in a pot when I got home and voila they were done, lovely and delicious. Because of their delicate size they cook up in a snap. Usually I only buy fresh Brussels Sprouts- but after trying these, they’re a new favourite.
How to Make Curly Fries: I was being lazy one evening, and mostly busy, thus didn’t feel particularly like peeling potatoes. As I’m washing them, I look up and spot my sturdy hand cranked apple peeler/corer/slicer on the wall… hmmm… what the heck… so I plop one of those suckers on and voila! Curly fry heavenliness! We didn’t want all the fat of deep frying (or the mess), therefore, we baked them, just like we do our wedge fries.
This is our recipe…

Herbamare SaltReview: Herbamare – Herbed Sea Salt Condiment
Ever had a dinner entree that needed a little somethin-somethin? This is the somethin!
My spouse loves this… coming from a guy who had grown up on Chef boyardee and Swanson – who hadn’t really had any home cooking until he met me. It’s a nice mild taste enhancer that’s completely natural.
7 Minute Dinner Recipe – Citrus Chicken & Rice – Easy Lemon Chicken: No more take-out with this easy one pot dinner recipe, it’s done before you can pick up the phone & order. Great for students too…
Broccoli Salad with Bacon and Almond Slivers. This is a great salad recipe to get fresh, raw broccoli down the hatch, and do it happily! If you like sweet n salty, this is for you.
This macaroni soup recipe is more like a homemade pasta stew. Thick and comfort food-ey it’s a family favourite all year, but especially at the cottage or rainy days. With a nice thick piece of ancient grains bread – you’re all set!
How do I make salsa?
If I gave away a jar to everyone who asked, I could open a manufacturing plant… my friends have to go on a waiting list for this stuff…
Homemade Salsa Recipe…
(Excellent! One of the very best I’ve tried & adapted to my taste)
My sister Colleen’s hot appetizer, requested at many events, now made by various family members. It’s restaurant quality.
